We're responsible for over 1 million piercings Australia-wide and have been around for 25 years! Our team is expertly trained and love what they do!
We don't use piercing guns, we use high quality sterilised jewellery and can offer expert advice. Piercings are a procedure, not just an aesthetic choice. Make sure you leave yours in the best hands.

Sterilisation
We use autoclave sterilisers in all Punktured stores. These use steam and pressure to kill germs. We also use new needles for each piercing - these are medically sterilised and sealed.
Our piercers are happy to answer any questions you have about sterilisation - Just ask!
Piercing Guns
We NEVER use piercing guns and you should steer clear of any piercing salon that tells you these are okay to use.
Piercing guns cannot be sterilised properly between clients which can lead to infections.
This method also causes great damage to tissue and can leave very visible and darkened scarring.
The earring studs used in piercing guns are also not appropriate for piercings other than the earlobes.
Numbing
We don't sell numbing spray and will not perform procedures on anyone who has used numbing cream.
Jewellery Requirements
For hygiene reasons, we must pierce with jewellery that has been medically sterilised in our autoclave.
Previously used or unsterile jewellery is not suitable for a fresh piercing, so you will need to purchase new jewellery from us for the initial piercing.
Change overs won't incur a fee when you purchase jewellery from us on the day and change over at the same time, however there is a $10 fee any other time/ with your own provided jewellery.
You should wait until your piercing has completely healed before you change your jewellery.
You may put yourself at risk of infection or rejection if you don't wait. Healing time depends on what type of piercing you get.
For average healing times, check out the details in the Aftercare section below or ask your local Punktured piercer.
For all piercings during healing avoid:
- Moving or rotating your jewellery where possible. This will allow your piercing to heal safely.
- Touching your piercing as this can increase the chance of infection.
- Over cleaning. Only clean your piercing as directed by your piercer.
- Oral contact from others.
- Chlorine as this can cause irritation. So avoid pools and spas.
- Changing your jewellery until healed - you may damage the piercing or get an infection.
- Shampoo, conditioner residue and soaps. Make sure you rinse these away while showering.
- Tight and unwashed clothing and linen.
- Restrictive clothing.
- Illicit drugs and alcohol consumption initially (especially with oral piercings).
Remember to:
- Maintain a healthy lifestyle.
- Change bedding and towels regularly.
- Contact your piercer if you have any questions or queries.
Eating & Drinking Before and After
Eating before a piercing and ensuring your body is well fuelled is great. Maintaining your regular diet after your new piercing is always suggested too, as the human body relies on sustenance. However, in the case of oral piercings, eating can be a slightly weird sensation so care is advised.
There is no situation where we can ethically pierce a person under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
In all cases heavy consumption of these things WILL slow the healing process and promote infection.
In the case of oral piercings alcohol consumption of any type or brand will cause further complications to swelling, slow healing or a multitude of infections.
It is strongly advised against until healing is nearly complete.
Use the PUNKTURED Saline Solution and a cotton tip to clean the piercing at both entry points twice a day.
This should be done for the duration of the healing time to ensure that your piercing looks great in the long term.
For Oral: Use oral aftercare spray to wash internally three times per day after food. Also use external aftercare spray to clean the outside of the piercing three times per day.
